Kerri: Hi, congrats on winning JotW. Sounds like you are doing good work. What kind of dog is Hula? She reminds me so much of our dog Lily. (from my journal go to my website and you can see a pic.) Lily was such a good dog - so sweet and naturally obedient. She has passed away, but boy I miss her. We are blessed with Belle now and love her, but I still miss Lily.

She got along with all of the other dogs and didn't have any indoor accidents! She even curled up in a lady named Andrea's lap. Another 2-4 weeks and the girls will be adoptable. They are so sweet!

A Loving Mom...

  • Mood: Loved
  • Thankful for: Alice

Alice --- oh Alice! Alice was named for the housekeeper on "The Brady Bunch" as she arrived in our rescue with 3 boys and 3 girls ... (her other 7 babies had been placed in another rescue).  Little did we know at the time - she would be caring for someone elses babies - just as Alice did on the show...

Alice gave birth to THIRTEEN puppies sometime in December or January... just as those babies were weaned - THIRTEEN more came into her life!  They had been found abandoned in a field in Indiana - about one week old at the time.  Email went out BEGGING for a lactating mom somewhere for these babies to go... and ARVSS took them on.

As it turned out, Alice had just passed the threshold to be much help with feeding the babies, so the human fosters have been busy bottle feeding them every 4 hours!  Alice, however has taken them on in every other way a mom should... cleaning the babies, nuzzling and keeping them warm and safe.

One little baby didn't make it - but the remaing 12 are growing and thriving under the care of Alice and the humans they live with ... after all of this, Alice is looking forward to retirement in a home of her own where all the attention will be on her - not dozens of furry little babies!

One of the little babies Alice is busy Mothering now!
